Wloclawek has already existed on the map of Europe for more than thousand years. The records in historical sources certify liveliness of this burgh on the very beginning of its history. In Gall Anonymannals Wlodzislaw was mentioned as one of the biggest cities of the Boleslaw Chrobry monarchy – just after Poznan and Gniezno. Thanks to life-giving neighbourhood of the queen of Polish rivers – Vistula – the city was pulsating with trade. Wloclawek was first of all a mainstay of catholic faith – already in year 1065 there was a John Baptis Church standing in Wloclawek. In XII-th century, when the bishopric was transferred here from Kruszwica, Wloclawek became an important centre in topography of church authority.

The glory of Wloclawek is not only very rich history, historical characters with wise memoirs of beauty of nature. The city can be proud of some well prospering factories. Chemical industry is proudly represented by the biggest Wloclawek’s company – Anwil, that manufactures, amongst the others, fertilizers and pcv plastics. Our basketball teat, which is a Polish Champion, well know to all supporters in the country, is a great promotion of this factory for sure. Anwil’s schowcases are, next to products mentioned above, numerous certificates and ISO standards within the range of environment protection.
